Applicant's Story

Regarding your work experience, what's most appealing to you?

'The purpose of my work'

When do you know you've done a good job?

'I feel it'

Why are you a caregiver... or want to become one?

'I will tell you a little about me. I have been in the medical field for just about 18 years and in that time I have worked in many roles. I have worked as a NA to CNA 1 and 2 I have worked as a medic with AMR and worked in a level 1 trama ER. I have worked in NICU setting to all pediatric levels and also spent some time working in a CVOR. I feel that each job i worked and each skill I gained, every person I had the pleasure to work with had a impact on me and who I am. I have spend my career wanting to gain as much knowledge and skills as I could to help as many people as I could. I feel it is it is important that each person no matter what they have done from helping a elderly woman comb out her hair because she is unable to too having to preform CPR on someone who is unable to restart their own heart are no more important than the other. I have recently transferred y skill out of the clinical side of the medical field to the clerical HR side. I think that being involved in the recruitment and hiring process for caregivers is a great use of the skills and knowledge i have gained over the years because who else better to recruit caregivers than someone who know what will be asked of them and is able to help them when called upon. There are so many more reasons why I love what I do and why care giving but hopefully this is a good gimps into who I am and why I am here.
'

Tell me of a time when you were there for someone who really needed you.

'I love telling this story. When I had just become a CNA working in a SNF I had the pleasure to work with a woman who was over 100. This woman was nothing less than amazing with stories for days. However this woman had no family in this state less this side of the US and all of her friends had already passed. I would stay each night and feed her sherbert( she was unable to do feed herself). Her biggest fear was she was going to die alone. When the time was drawing near she voiced how scared she was to die alone. I stayed with her off the clock and I was there for her not as a CNA but as someone who wanted her to go in peace as she deserved. She was the very first person I lost and tho I hae many more examples of times people may have needed me in a more critical way, This is who I am and why this is my line of work.
'

Think of the person who was most meaningful to you growing up. What made them special to you?

'That would be my grandmother..MY grandma was the best grandma ever ( i know everyone says that but selfishly i would have to disagree). MY grandmother was the best listener and was always arms wide open to anyone who came across her. My grandma instilled love and compassion at a very raw and dedicated way, by always showing passion and consideration to each and every person form every walk of life and never wavering in doing so. My grandma made me who I am today.
'

Please share one or two memories that you had with that person.

'We would always go hand out pillows downtown out of my grandmas little car all year round.
And also she would take me shopping for new toys or to the candy store at the mall now every time i see bulk candy I think of her lol.
'

How can I help create a supportive and positive work experience for you?

'Transparency.
