Applicant's Story

Regarding your work experience, what's most appealing to you?

'The purpose of my work'

When do you know you've done a good job?

'I feel it'

Why are you a caregiver... or want to become one?

'I have been a caregiver for seven years and found it my calling after I learned about hospice with my mother. '

Tell me of a time when you were there for someone who really needed you.

'I find that I am usually always there for others. Whether it be friends, family, or clients and employers. At Gateway Living I picked up a lot of double shifts for my residents to ensure their needs could be met. '

Think of the person who was most meaningful to you growing up. What made them special to you?

'My step mother, my aunt, and I older sister are three wonderful women who helped me become the person I am. '

Please share one or two memories that you had with that person.

'My mother lost her battle to cancer when I was 16 but her laughter and smile brought me such Joy. '

How can I help create a supportive and positive work experience for you?

'Encouragement and understanding of self care and burn out awareness is a very important thing with caregiving and makes it easier when you don't feel guilting for such. '
