Applicant's Story

Regarding your work experience, what's most appealing to you?

'The purpose of my work'

When do you know you've done a good job?

'I feel it'

Why are you a caregiver... or want to become one?

'Before officially becoming a caregiver I took care of family members, family friends. I saw the good and bad experiences they had with previous caregivers and wanted to be the good. I decided to become a caregiver for other people’s loved ones because I wanted to be the “good” caregiver and provide comfort and help when they needed it most. '

Tell me of a time when you were there for someone who really needed you.

'I used to take care of a lady in a facility. Her memory was starting to go and I found her re organizing her room one day when I went to help her into bed. I asked what she was doing and she started to sob saying that her husband said he didn’t like how the house was so she needed to change it. Instead of correcting her about her husband being passed away like the other cna kept telling her, I helped her organize her “home” and then helped her to bed. '

Think of the person who was most meaningful to you growing up. What made them special to you?

'My father has been and is the most meaningful person to me. He has always done whatever he needed to make sure his family was taken care of at all times. He was a strict dad but I have never met a person more forgiving, honest, and loving. '

Please share one or two memories that you had with that person.

'We used to go fishing once a month before I moved out.

He used to own his own handyman company and I would “work” with him a couple times a week. The long days of being next to him as he worked learning how to do it is a memory I will cherish. '

How can I help create a supportive and positive work experience for you?

'I value honesty about my work performance, I prefer it to be as honest as possible. Also, excellent communication is something I look for in a company to work for. As well as companies who value their employees especially in a caregiver field, I don’t want to be looked at as a “butt wiper”. '
