Applicant's Story

Regarding your work experience, what's most appealing to you?

'The purpose of my work'

When do you know you've done a good job?

'I feel it'

Why are you a caregiver... or want to become one?

'I enjoy the office coordinator/receptionist work. I am a very friendly person and I enjoy making relationships and being the first face people see. I want to make people feel comfortable and welcome. '

Tell me of a time when you were there for someone who really needed you.

'I had a patient who came in needing medical records a few years back. She had just lost her spouse and was having a hard time getting everything together. I went out of my way to collect all the forms She needed, I explained the forms what they were for, where they needed to be taken, and called any places she would go to that day to be sure they would help her and they were expecting her. I wanted to make that difficult time as easy as possible so she could focus on grieving and let us do the paperwork portion. '

Think of the person who was most meaningful to you growing up. What made them special to you?

'My mother and my aunt have been very close to me my entire life. They are special to me as they are some of the most patient, kind hearted, giving people I know. They go out of their way to live selfless lives, giving to others, taking care of others and devote much of their time to it. It’s admirable and I see how it affects people’s lives and I hope I can do that someday. '

Please share one or two memories that you had with that person.

'My mother works for an assisted living home in Bend. I help her for all of their “social events” and she knows all the residents by name. They know her. She plays games with them, they adore her. Anytime I help I love how they light up meeting me just because of the impression my mother has left on their lives. My aunt used to take careful of my great grandmother in her last days through hospice. She would bring me and encourage me to help her with things. I would help my grandma communicate with her spelling board so my aunt would know what she wanted. She always involved me and made me feel comfortable with my great grandma even with how severe her condition was. I was never scared or felt uncomfortable. '

How can I help create a supportive and positive work experience for you?

'Open communication, healthy happy work relationships, support, and open to listening to suggestions. '
