Applicant's Story

Regarding your work experience, what's most appealing to you?

'The purpose of my work'

When do you know you've done a good job?

'I feel it'

Why are you a caregiver... or want to become one?

'I became a caregiver to a girl with special needs recently this year and have loved it unconditionally. I wanted to become a caregiver because I wanted to continue down my path of helping people who may not be able to take care of themselves in certain ways. I loved developing a deep friendship with Rachel as I worked with her, and I hope to continue that with my next employment with everyone that I work with. '

Tell me of a time when you were there for someone who really needed you.

'I was around 16 years old when a family friend named Sylvia lost her husband. She was absolutely devastated and couldn't do her house work/yard work on her own after he passed away. I offered to help her and would clean her house along with mowing her yard and trimming her rosebushes and other assorted plants. I would bring my family over to make her dinner and spend quality time with her as I knew she would get lonely without any visitors. I wanted to do my absolute best to make sure that she felt as if she wasn't alone after the difficult loss of her husband. '

Think of the person who was most meaningful to you growing up. What made them special to you?

'I think one of the most meaningful people to me growing up was my mother. She was always so kind to anyone that was in need and would often go out of her way and push her problems aside in order to help them. I have definitely followed that role. My mom was always so strong with anything the world threw at her and kept pushing forward. She has always rescued animals in need and would often let me keep any animal I decided to rescue as well. She has become my best friend in these last couple of years and I don't know what I would do without her. '

Please share one or two memories that you had with that person.

'One of my fondest memories with my mom is rescuing animals. We would constantly bring in any dogs that have had a rough start in life and teach them that it was safe and okay to trust someone again. We have rescued well over 14 dogs and it even inspired me to rescue multiple reptiles as well. '

How can I help create a supportive and positive work experience for you?

'I want to work somewhere where the duties I preform mean something to someone and has a strong purpose. I would like to work in a supportive and caring environment. '
