Applicant's Story

Regarding your work experience, what's most appealing to you?

'The purpose of my work'

When do you know you've done a good job?

'I feel it'

Why are you a caregiver... or want to become one?

'I was raised in an elder driven society and have always been intrigued by all the great experience, wisdom, and humor the elderly have to share! I have always been told I have a great bedside manner, and should started doing it as a profession much sooner in life.'

Tell me of a time when you were there for someone who really needed you.

'My wife and I removed a elderly family member from an unhealthy and possibly abusive dwelling. Not long after being with us, they shared how they felt they weren’t able to sleep much due to fear of being abused. They slept so like a baby for the entire first month just “catching up” on sleep.'

Think of the person who was most meaningful to you growing up. What made them special to you?

'I don’t feel I have a person who was ‘the most meaningful’ , however, I had many that were extremely meaningful and made serious impacts on my life’s choices. Two that come to mind immediately are both of my grandfathers.'

Please share one or two memories that you had with that person.

'Both of my parents’ fathers always started their days early leaving the house about 5 AM. Both of them had their daily profession as well as multiple rentals. Whenever we visited my mother’s parents, her father would pick a different grandkid each day to the start out the day with him til lunch when mom or dad would come pick us up. He taught me how to start every day early with a healthy meal and good company. He also modeled how to be a hard worker with personal integrity, regardless of other people’s choices, and to always look for the good in people but know that not all make good choices, i.e., the tenants in his rentals.

My father’s pops instilled in me the importance of not being intimidated by a ‘new/unfamiliar’ task. Do your research(via books and people experienced in executing the perspective task) and go for it. Always give yourself the mental&emotional buffer because things might not go smoothly the first time but if you persevere, you can achieve most things if not all. He also always reminded me to stick to my convictions in spite of frustrating/challenging times in life.'

How can I help create a supportive and positive work experience for you?

'-Have integrity
-Have an admirable company purpose
-Clear communication
-Excited about embracing other countries cultures
-Believe in employees continuing education and empowering them to do so.'
