Applicant's Story

Regarding your work experience, what's most appealing to you?

'The purpose of my work'

When do you know you've done a good job?

'I feel it'

Why are you a caregiver... or want to become one? (What's most important to you about this work?)

'I became a nurse after working my way up from aide to CNA to LPN. I enjoy helping people, getting to know them and hearing of some of their life experiences. I like to help them improve their quality of life. I hope to have a positive effect when I leave.'

Tell me the story of a time when you were there for someone who really needed you?

'I've done a bit of Hospice work , which I really enjoy, and hope I was present for them. Being a nurse for so many years, it is difficult to pin point one time, but over time I hope they all felt that I was there for them when they needed me.I'

How can I help create a supportive and positive work experience for you?

'I would like an employer that is responsive to questions and concerns. To feel appreciated of the work I do and to be allowed flexibility with my schedule. I would like to feel that I am being compensated for my years of experience in nursing. I would like a company that is well managed and thoughtful and grateful for its caring staff.'

Think of the person who was most meaningful to you growing up. What makes them special to you?

'My mother was an influence as she told me stories of hard times during the war and was always generous to service men they entertained at the different bases we were assigned to. She showed generosity and hospitality to others. She was always accomadating to all our friends and a second home for them. She showed me how to be kind to others and accept everyone for who they are.'

Please share one or two memories that you have with that person.

'My mother died at an early age when I was 18. So unfortunately I didn't get any adult time with her, but I remember that when I was little she use to get us matching outfits which I loved. She had a handmade dress made of me for a prom, she had hand maid sailor suits made for the four of us when we lived on a naval base, just little things that made moments special.'
