Applicant's Story

Regarding your work experience, what's most appealing to you?

'The people I work with'

When do you know you've done a good job?

'The people I work with tell me'

Why are you a caregiver... or want to become one?

'I am a caregiver be cause I care about people My first job was caring for a lady who had a stroke. It was in Alaska. I was 14. I did the bedpan. The bed bath, brushing teeth, and cooking and feeding My shift was 6 am to 6 pm.'

Tell me of a time when you were there for someone who really needed you.

'When my husband was hospitalized a lot before he passed away. I cared for my mother with Alzhimers for 10 years before she passed away. I went to work for ComForCare in Tigard,Or for about 4 yrs. Did not want to do 217 any more So when the client passed I applied here'

Think of the person who was most meaningful to you growing up. What made them special to you?

'My Mother. She was the most kind, loving, sharing, caring person I have none. Her moto was do unto others as you would have them do to you.'

Please share one or two memories that you had with that person.

'She was sitting in her chair and my grandaughter who lived with us came home from school,"Do you want to have after school snacks Grandma"and She would just perk up with a light in her eyes 2 She learned to swim at 52 with her 5 yr. old grand daughter '

How can I help create a supportive and positive work experience for you?

'I am not as physically able to do as much as I once was but I can do quiet a bit and am usually good at being a companion. I can't walk as well as I use to. I get along with people pretty well. I have stayed friends with family members after the client has passed.'
