Applicant's Story

Regarding your work experience, what's most appealing to you?

'The people I work with'

When do you know you've done a good job?

'I feel it'

Why are you a caregiver... or want to become one?

'I lost my father at the age of 15 years old. I picked up the responsibilities to care for him while he was declining. I grew a better bond and relationship within the time frame. I looked at it as a gift because many do not have patience, I share it within the elderly that do not or do have a family. '

Tell me of a time when you were there for someone who really needed you.

'I say my father because no one else was educated on the field enough to help, so with my growing up watching my mother do it. I was ready and able to be there for him. I also came across many residents within the nursing homes.'

Think of the person who was most meaningful to you growing up. What made them special to you?

'My mother, because she was a single parent of 4, she always made a way. She made it through college and graduated as an Medical Assistant. That made me see that it gets hard but you have to keep going. '

Please share one or two memories that you had with that person.

'There were times where I would go to her for questioning about how to handle certain situations and how would I react to a certain reaction. She’s would always tell me something right and the situation would never go wrong because I could just remember the right things in the back of my mind because of my mother. '

How can I help create a supportive and positive work experience for you?

'A supportive and positive experience at work to me would be something like all the coworkers are able to come to work and just do what they’re taught to do and just understand each other’s and help when needed. '
