Applicant's Story

Regarding your work experience, what's most appealing to you?

'The purpose of my work'

When do you know you've done a good job?

'The people I work with tell me'

Why are you a caregiver... or want to become one?

'I am a caregiver because it came natural to me at a young age. My great grandmother had cancer and my family doesn't believe in nursing homes so we as a family came together to take care of her until she passed away. I stuck with it after that and became my step dad caregiver until he passed away earlier this year.'

Tell me of a time when you were there for someone who really needed you.

'My step dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia in 2013 I was his caregiver from then until this year I quit my job to become his caregiver because I was all he knew. He would give the other aids before I took on the task a hard time but once I took on the task everything was wonderful '

Think of the person who was most meaningful to you growing up. What made them special to you?

'My grandmother is very special to me because she raised me and I am a caregiver because of her. She's a LPN and is very supportive of everything I choose to do becoming a caregiver made her so proud of me.'

Please share one or two memories that you had with that person.

'My grandmother was there for everything I've accomplished. The first memory is me giving birth to my first child in wouldn't oushnuntil she got to the hospital. The second memory is her giving me away on my wedding day.'

How can I help create a supportive and positive work experience for you?

'Encourage when I feel like I'm not doing enough. Let me do what I know to do.'
